Today after school Waihi East School students (mainly from the year 4-6 level) went to Minecraft Hour of Code and tried the all-new Minecraft Hour of Code Designer, a tutorial that lets students code their own Minecraft rules. The students can use code to control how animals and other Minecraft creatures behave—they can create a totally unique Minecraft experience, and then share it with friends or play it on their phones! This is part of our after school CS-First and Code.org classes on Thursdays (the material is best to suited to year 4-6 students). The classes are in room 1 from 3.05 p.m.-4.30 p.m. (snacks and drinks available) for the rest of this term leading up to code.org worldwide coding week for students in early December.
Below is a screencast by year 4 pupil Micah F who made great progress in the Minecraft coding lesson today, pupils got a certificate after working through the tasks.
