Kia ora koutou. Nga mihi maioha ki a koutou katoa. Warm greetings to you all.
ATTENDANCE - The weather has changed in the last couple of weeks, and staff and students are starting to come down with colds and other bugs. While we want each child to have an attendance rate of 90%+, (research suggests that rates less than that can impact on learning), we ask that they stay home if they are sick. Congratulations to Room 6 - their attendance rate was 94% last week!
FACEBOOK - Facebook can be a great way to communicate and keep in touch, and for some, preferable to trying to keep up with the weekly newsletter. Our school Facebook page, Waihi East Primary School, has 238 likes. If you are a Facebook user and haven’t ‘liked’ our page, please do! You will get notifications and reminders that will help you know what is happening at school. From time to time, things don’t go the way we want. We would ask that you don’t use Facebook to vent your frustrations, but come and talk to us. We want to help resolve any problems.
Teachers are usually available to talk with you before 8:30am or at the end of the day (except Mondays). If you need more than a quick chat, you can email them to make a time, or you can leave a message with Sharon at the office. I have a varied schedule, so you could drop in to see if I’m available, or email me to make a time.
EMERGENCY DRILLS - Next week we will start practising our emergency drills: fire, earthquake, lock-down and bomb threat. If you are at school during these drills, please stay with the class you are with and follow the teachers’ direction.
CROSS COUNTRY - Lots of action in this department with our Waihi East School Cross Country last week and the District Schools’ event yesterday, check out some of the photos below from last weeks Waihi East School Cross Country 2016.
Nga mihi nui, Whaea Steph (Anich)
